Summit and Medina Counties Celebrate In-Demand Jobs Week May 2-6

The fifth annual In-Demand Jobs Week of Summit and Medina Counties will be held May 2-6, 2022. Part of a statewide celebration of jobs, industries, and skills that are in-demand in Ohio, the event highlights Ohio’s top jobs that pay more than $50,000 per year and require a credential rather than a degree or years of training.

At the local level, the Summit and Medina OhioMeansJobs centers will celebrate by hosting daily events for job seekers which concentrate on available training and apprenticeships opportunities, as well as recruitment events with large employers in healthcare, information technology, and manufacturing. To provide flexibility for job seeker participation, events will be held virtually, onsite at the OhioMeansJobs centers, and several local libraries. Summit and Medina residents interested in learning more can begin their search for employment or training opportunities by visiting summitmedinaomj.org.

“As our workforce area participates in the State’s fifth annual In-Demand Jobs Week which focuses on positions with wages more than $24.00/hour, Medina County is looking forward to an opportunity to showcase our employers with careers that support economic self-sufficiency for our job seekers,” said Medina County Commissioner Colleen Swedyk.

In-Demand Jobs Week is also beneficial for Summit and Medina County businesses and employers. Local businesses and companies will have the chance to build a talent pool by meeting prospective employees and generating interest and knowledge in local job opportunities within their respective industries.

“The OhioMeansJobs Center staff works closely with local employers to connect them with residents in need of jobs. They are ready to help businesses find job seekers that match a company’s needs. This collaborative relationship benefits both employers and employees. I encourage Summit County residents to take advantage of this during In-Demand Jobs Week,” said Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro.
