I would encourage everyone to attend the employment workshop. I had been out of the job searching scene for over 28 years, and there was so much to learn. Because of the tools and information given during the workshop, I learned how to write a resume and conduct an interview that landed me a great job.
Last year when I was furloughed and then laid off due to COVID, I wasn't sure where to even begin looking for a new job. I was recommended to work with OMJ for a position that fit well with my skills and was for people in my situation. I'm grateful for all that OMJ has been able to do to help my family and I keep some peace of mind.
The mock interviews were game changing for me. The roleplays we did really helped me with the many interviews I did have. Just suggesting questions they may ask and offering thoughts on how to answer them. The feedback was so valuable.
I had a general idea of what to do (update the resume, start looking online), but with OhioMeansJobs Summit County's help, I was able to sharpen my resume, prepare for interviews, and get my confidence back to where it was before. I knew I had the skills. I just needed to get that information out to the right employer. And with their help, I did.
I have an awesome career coordinator that has been really helpful with following up and providing support to me in a timely manner. My career coordinator assisted me with a mock interview that was really helpful. OhioMeansJobs Summit County has a really great program and always has someone available to provide assistance and encouragement as well!
With OMJ Summit County guidance, we revised my resume, discussed opportunities, and I attended workshops, including The Executive Network Group. After six grueling months, I landed a new position! Thanks to the Talent Developer for your support and perseverance. OhioMeans...JOBS well done.
My instructor's confidence, experience, knowledge, examples, clear speaking, positivity, willingness to answer all questions, and control of the class flow are to his credit. The two hour rule, explanation of the inner workings of ATSs, and ‘filling in the blanks’, among all the other good information, answered so many of my questions and inserted so many missing links. I am glad to have some hope return to my job search and will do my best to follow all his suggestions. My hour drive down? Well worth it.
I went to OhioMeansJobs Summit County. The people there were understanding, patient, kind and willing to help me. I didn’t have a computer at that time so I was able to use their resource room to work on my resume. Going through workshops gave me a lot of information that I learned and applied to looking for a job. Which gave me a confidence that I needed to start looking for a job. I am very thankful for the help OhioMeansJobs Summit County taught me to grow and be confidant in looking for and finding a job.
OhioMeansJobs Summit County was extremely helpful to me during my job search! The job search process has changed a lot since the last time I was looking for employment (20 years ago) I received lots of coaching, training and support while I navigated new territory. I’m grateful for the services and the people that helped me along the way.
